I was meeting my girl friends at this restaurant Vinnata Project in Meatpacking. As soon as I walked in I realized how empty this area could be on a Monday night.. But whatever... I Sat down and checked in on foursquare as usual and I saw this other person "Paul" had his profile on because he just checked in the same place. I looked around and of course, it was the cute waiter.
After few minutes my girl friends came. I told them that the bar could make customized cocktails and they were really delicious. My friends were very interested so they waved at the cute waiter. The waiter came and nicely took all our complex orders. Then as he was leaving the table, I suddenly said, "Thank you Paul!"
For my girl friend Michelle's birthday - we went to DUO in Gramercy.. The best part of the place is there glowing menu - yes when you open the menu, the special film inside would actually glow! It's pretty cool.. too bad i only took iphone pictures that day.
The food was not bad (so so) but the dessert was very cute, and they also brought over a candle stick for her bday.
It's a little too late to write about the year 2011 - I barely write any summary type of articles (I'm so bad at it). But I guess 2011 was just, an eventful and special year to me.
Shanghai, Beijing, Indiana, Florida, London, Edinburgh... I miss all these places where I had great memories.
Shanghai was amazingly fun, as always. I saw some friends I didn't see for over ten years. They looked the same, but somehow different.
Beijing was good and bad. I have a love/hate relationship with that city. I don't know how people live in such a huge but messy place - it could take 20 min to just cross the street. Although some of my best memories occurred in Beijing in my early 20s. Now every time I go there, it's like visiting that period time of my life.
Fireworks in Disney, Borough Market in London, the castles and whiskey bars in Edinburgh...
There were shames.. I planned to go to Lijiang and Morocco, but couldn't make it. Hope I can go this/next year, and blog about them..
Speaking of writing... I started this novel Manhattan Moonlight (in Mandarin) around June. I started slow and it became... really slow! Sometimes I wish I could be more focused, or, alone.
This summary is becoming so boring.. ahhhh I guess I AM really bad at this. Why did I even start? (sigh face)
It was my girl friend Grace's birthday so we had a group dinner at Hotel Griffou in west village. The block of 9th St between 5th and 6th Ave, on which the restaurant located, was surprisingly quiet, nice, filled with the old New York-ish townhouses.
Grace brought her own flowers and did the settings herself - she's a great event designer!
